PSYCHO'S POEM

I will never see an elephant draw a flower vase in watercolors,
or walk by a dead bull’s carcass on the side of a Moroccan road.
I will never be at that temple were rats are sacred,
or take a picture with a sleeping princess at Disney World.

I will never get used to the idea of a life so ordinary,
nor to the fact that that word defines my everyday.
I will never see people dance on Broadway,
or stare at them in Rockefeller Center, spinning away.

I will never have a picture of me standing in front of the Big Ben,
nor have a glass of wine at the Eiffel tower like I dreamed when I was ten.
I will never go under water and meet a little old manta ray,
or love someone, anyone, in an interesting way.

So one day I will go to school with my daddy’s shotgun,
and I will shoot every single person at sight,
so that before my brains are scattered all over Suzy's cerebellum,
I at least have one memorable night.
